Virtual Corporate Holiday Party Ideas

This is Yvonne Lowe's Hack for a Virtual Corporate Holiday Party.

Party Theme: Peace, Joy, Love

Kick off the event with the Peace portion. In this part, have a LIVE message from your company's CEO. I suggest a fireside chat with the head of your HR department. Make it personal by doing the fireside interview at your CEO's home using Covid protocols. Have employees to send questions in that they would like to have answered. If having the interview at the CEO's home is not an option, have it at a studio. You can then livestream into the event a personal message from your CEO or the fireside chat interview. I do not recommend a recorded video for this portion, make it LIVE.

This will help your employees to have peace-of-mind wrapping up 2020 and moving into 2021.

From the PEACE portion of the event, you then move into the JOY portion of the event. Who doesn't need a little bit of joy, these days? Here I suggest having a mixologist to demo a drink (have ingredients delivered ahead of time). Also have a meal delivered to your employees as your party should have food and beverage. Ensure that the drink that the mixologist is demoing pairs well with the meals delivered. That's Part 1 of the JOY portion of the event.

Part 2, of the JOY portion is the entertainment. Make your entertainment light, fun and engaging. My suggestion is a musical concert (Christmas or otherwise). Another suggestion is a comedy show. We could all use a good laugh during this time of endless Covid concerns. Have your employees enjoy their meal and drinks while experiencing the entertainment. Make certain that your entertainment fits your company's brand and culture.

After the entertainment, move into the LOVE portion of the event. Show your employees love by creating breakout rooms for each department. The head of that department will lead the breakout room for their department. Employees will be able to network in smaller groups and then managers can recognize their employees with gifts.

If your company usually have white elephant gifting, you can still do so with a virtual white elephant. Set the limit for the gifts, and employees can send their gifts through eGift cards. Or, if white elephant is not your company's thing, then mail a branded company gift or an eGift card to all the employees.
